The Aerosky C6 could be considered on the top end of Hobby Drones, and is a transition from hobby to professional quadcopter flying. It is most often used for professional aerial photography and video sequences. You'll most often see it with a Go Pro mounted on a Gimbal for such tasks, but it is powerful enough to carry a small pro-grade camera as well.

The C6 has a GPS autopilot system that is fully programmable via USB MWC Flight control board. It's fitted with Ardunio progammed Tmega 2560 CPU, MPU6050 Gyro and also have accelerometer, HMC5883 MAG and MS5611 Barometer to boot! As you can see from the advanced electronics, this isn't a beginner's toy drone, but designed for serious hobbyists and professional use. Using the onboard equipment, the Aerosky C6 drone features position hold, altitude hold, return to home function, headless navigation and advanced route planning.

The AeroSky C6 is over 60cm (23+ inches) and is powered by four 920KV brushless outrunner motors that are supported by four brushless 40amp Hobbywing Skywalker ESC's (Electronic Speed Controllers). All this power allows the Aerosky C6 to carry up to 500g (1.10 lbs) which is more than enough for most camera systems!

Frame construction is carbon fiber tubing and plates for rigidity and crash-worthyness. The chassis (both mainboards) is constructed from PCB frame board so it is safer for your electronics wiring and mounting. The frame also takes in to account space for add-on systems that hobby or pro flyers would want the drone to carry in addition to the standard operating equipment.

When not in use, all arms fold in and landing gear can be removed for a smaller storage footprint.

GPS Automatic Take Off & Landing

With a normal radio controlled helicopter or quadcopter one of the most difficult things is taking off and landing. For beginners it usually leads to crashes. But with GPS automatic take off just arm the system and then select take off. The drone will automatically take off and hover without any further input needed! Ready to land? You no longer need to carefully reduce throttle while trying to keep the model flat, instead just hit the land switch and the drone will automatically land itself!

GPS Position Hold

No more having to constantly adjust for wind and movement. With GPS position hold you can let go of the controls and the drone will stay hovering in that position. This makes flying so much easier and stable. The GPS module knows where it is so can stay at those co-ordinates even if the wind blows.

Route Plotting Software

Using open source mission planner software you can pre-programme a flight path for the drone to fly. This software shows no fly zones and detailed earth views, perfect for site monitoring and advanced applications.

Compass Function

The compass function makes flying the RC drone much easier. Without this feature a drone will be controlled like a helicopter whereby to go in a certain direction the helicopter must be rotated to face that direction and then you go forward. With the compass turned on it no longer matters which way the drone is pointing, when you push forward on the transmitter the drone will always move away from the take off position, and the same with the other directions regardless of which way it is pointing.

Altitude Hold

With industrial grade MEMS sensors the C6 will also hold it's height automatically with less drift than other drones on the market. Unlike a traditional helicopter or quadcopter the throttle stick is spring loaded as altitude control becomes much simpler. You can just push up to make the drone fly higher and push down for lower but then just release the throttle to hover at that height.

GPS Return To Home On Signal Loss Or Request

The GPS return to home feature is fantastic. The drone remembers the coordinates that it took off from. If you fly outside the transmitter range or the signal is lost for any reason such as your transmitter batteries go flat then the drone will automatically return to where it took off and land. You also have the option to enable return to home at any time even if the signal is not lost by just flipping the return to home switch.

Low Voltage Safety

Another great feature that will keep your drone safer. The on-board computer will detect if the battery voltage is getting low and transmit a warning to the pilot to let you know it's time to land. If the battery gets even emptier then the drone will then proceed to land itself to ensure it does not stall and crash.

500g Payload

This is more than enough to carry most mini HD video cameras like the Go Pro or Sony Action Cam for high quality recording. This higher payload also allows fitting of an automatic PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera mount. This smart electronic mount has a built in computer that will keep your camera level even if the drone tilts forwards or backwards.

Modular Design

You may have seen some other drones on the market that are enclosed in a white one piece case. Although these may look a little nicer in practical terms they are not as good. If you do have a crash it usually means the whole system needs transferring to a new case but with a modular design like on the C6 just the broken arm or part can be replaced. The parts are made from special high impact carbon fiber but if you did need to replace any part we stock all the parts for making easy repairs.
