The UDI U841 (Nano RX4) Mini Quadcopter that’s perfect for indoor and outdoor flying when you can’t take a full size drone with you. The U841 has a diagonal rotor width of only 100mm and is perfect for stuffing in a backpack or dufflebag when you’re going out for the day. The UDI U841 is unique in the fact that it has attachments to give you more options when messing around with it. While this is an entry level drone, it has a high definition camera on board that has 720p video recording and can use a 64GB microSD memory card for extended flights.
The UDI U841 has 6-axis control for smoother fights, and has bigger rotor motors than the Hubsan X4. In flight, it flies faster and has noticeably more power than the X4 as well. The U841 can be flown with surprising precision, even for a novice making it one of the better beginner drones that we’ve looked at.
The U841 comes with a single 3.7V 450mAh battery which will give you 5-9 minutes of flight time, also similar to the Hubsan, but we’d of course, recommend buying a few extra batteries so that you can play longer. It takes about an hour for the batteries to recharge, and there’s nothing more depressing than waiting for batteries to charge when all your friends are out flying their drones.

UDI U841 Mode Review
What is unique about the UDI U841 is the fact that there are different ways to use this drone, and the box comes with everything you need to fly it in each mode. Besides the standard prop guards, the U841 also comes with 2 sets of special prop guards that also double as wheels. The first is a set of four small wheels that attach to the sides of the quad, allowing it to skim the ground like a RC car. The second set consists of two large “Ferris” wheels that allow the U841 to “climb” up walls and move against ceilings. I find the U841 hardest to control when having those large Ferris wheels on although it can appear deceivingly easy to fly in its promotional videos. Hit a wall or hard surface too fast and the propellers will rub against the large wheels. Due to their bigger size, these wheels are also the heaviest props which means shorter flight times.
UDI U841 Transmitter
The Radio Control needs 4 AAA batteries (not included, of course) and has a built in LCD display that shows the battery power left, signal strength, throttle trims, gyro sensitivity level and throttle level. It feels good in the hands, much more ergonomic than the Hubsan’s radio.
The U841 can fly at 3 different gyro sensitivity levels — Low, Medium and High. In “Low” mode, the U841 will fly slower and is easier to control while “High” will unleash the full power of its motors. To toggle between levels, press the left stick inwards.
UDI U841 Review Conclusion
This little drone is perfect for indoor flying as well as a bit of outdoor flying when there’s little to no wind. It’s powerful little motors are able to compensate for a bit of wind, but can easily be overpowered if a good gust blows through. If you are playing with it outdoors and it is windy, the best idea is to play in 4-wheel mode where it stays very low to the ground.
